An absolutely beautiful 20th century Side Chair. From the fretwork to the fantastic carving with it's band of little flowers all the way around the seat to the flowers and leaves on the knees and the delicate yet regal ball and claw lion paw feet. It can be reupholstered or slipcovered. When a piece is in good condition like this one I sometimes like to slip it because somewhere down the line you might find that this nice red Asian pattern is perfect for another spot. I would have one slipcover slide over the back and another over the seat. They each can tie or button which adds a feminine touch and looks very pretty and tailored. I particularly like this chair because of it's straight lines up top and magnificent carving below. One of the secrets to great design is to carefully vary the materials while balancing smooth with rough, detail with simplicity, pattern with solid, wow! with quiet... etc..etc. The other great thing about this chair is that you can move it to your desk, your living room, bedroom, foyer, wherever. It will always have a place and you will want to keep it.
